A Candle for Mum, and a Little Moment of Autumn

A Candle for Mum, and a Little Moment of Autumn

If you’ve ever lit a candle for someone you miss, this little moment is for you.

Today I baked a walnut cake in the shape of an autumn wreath in memory of my Mum. I made a milky coffee, lit a candle for her and sat for a while with the warmth of home and the love that remains. Grief can make ordinary moments feel different. Sometimes a familiar ritual brings someone close again, even as we feel how much we miss them. Baking this cake was my way of making space for Mum today, and of remembering the love she gave so freely.

I created Eternal Light in Mum’s memory earlier this year. She showed her love through thoughtful handmade gifts and acts of kindness, and I wanted to carry that spirit forward: a place for meaningful gifts and small gestures that bring comfort, warmth and love to others.

If you’re missing someone too, I hope you can take a quiet moment for them in whatever way feels right. Light a candle, make a cup of coffee, bake something, or simply sit with a memory. There is no right way to remember someone you love. If you’d like to, tell me about the person you’re thinking of today. I’d be honoured to remember them with you.

With love,

Eternal Light
